Data Fellow Opportunities
Data Fellows work on data preparation projects to gain knowledge in data science, to support community organizations and research groups in their data preparation. We typically hire Data Fellows in groups, four to five hires as full-time employees of Georgia Tech, twice a year.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with team members and collaborate on projects
- Learn transferable data skills while working on client projects
- Clean data using Excel and other data tools
- Annotate, tag, or verify data for large datasets
- Track and communicate daily work on projects and training
- Occasionally conduct interviews/surveys for non-profit and civic clients in Atlanta
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Willingness to learn
- Some Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Professional attitude
- Detail oriented
- Strong communication skills
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED Certificate, or Vocational School Diploma
This position is one year in length. During that year, Data Fellows will spend about 25% of their time training, including orientation to Georgia Tech, responsible research and data practices, professional practices, data annotation, data cleaning using MS Excel, and introductory Python programming. When not in training, Data Fellows will work on project work for external clients and other Georgia Tech departments to clean, prepare and annotate data. We expect Data Fellows to maintain a positive and professional attitude while in the workplace and learn transferable skills.
