We aim to equip learners at DataWorks with a foundational data literacy and knowledge of tools that enable them to use data at work, in their day to day lives, and to pursue careers in data. Data Tools

At DataWorks, we develop curricula, applications, and workflows to support novices learning and performing data work. We aim to equip learners at DataWorks with a foundational data literacy and knowledge of tools that enable them to use data at work, in their day to day lives, and to pursue careers in data. Here, we share what we develop internally for public access.

Courses

The training curriculum at DataWorks consists of four courses: Critical Data Literacy, Excel, Python Fundamentals, and Career Development. They can be completed in any order or at the same time, and in a small group or followed independently.

4-8 weeks

The critical data literacy course is designed to provide the foundational concepts of big data, how it is navigated throughout the world in businesses and organizations, the lifecycle of data and documentation, and how to utilize data visualization tools to tell the story of data. In the course you will engage in a real-world, hands-on experience of learning and increasing your knowledge of data literacy. There are four guided modules, based on your skill level, that will give you the knowledge and expertise to gain and utilize the skills to further your competency and future career developments.

Career Development Curriculum

6 weeks

In this course you will learn how to grow and leverage your network as you search for a job. You will prepare your resume, prepare for and practice interviewing, and start to build a longer-term vision for your career.

Microsoft Excel In Data Analysis

The DataWorks Excel curriculum prepares adult professionals from technical or non-technical the foundational skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel to utilize when cleaning, organizing, and storing data. The curriculum has the optional of being guided with or without a facilitator. Microsoft Excel is a great tool for data analysis and is a trend in the world of data. In the curriculum, learners are able to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills through project-based learning and real-world scenarios.
